Mafia 107. Fever and Overdose

1. A Mafia player attempting to kill someone encountered an East protection. In this case, it wasn't the Reaper (most likely) who was doing the killing, but the Monster. It's a bit of a strange choice, considering the probability of successful healing from the Doctor, but you can make allowances for the large number of players with immunity (so there weren't that many targets for the Doctor).

2. The Mafia used the Father's attack. This is a viable option if the Father is among the players who had immunity on the first night (otherwise, releasing the Father would have been very unwise).

3. A Mafia player was blocked by the PSL (Protected Sheriff/Leader).

Regarding the Maniac, options 1 and 3 are also possible, but the Maniac might not have gone out to kill at all. A Night Defense with redirection and protection removal is also a good option to use on the first night.
