It seems you have some mods installed that replace game files, which the map script relies on. As a result, they interfere with its proper functioning.

I started deleting the mods, there were 6 of them, one by one. Without the data mod, the game wouldn't launch; with the others removed, the game would freeze after saving. I probably need to replay the battle.
