After the game starts. You can find a comfortable place and summon it. Or, have friends nearby who can resurrect it from Estella.
How does the contract work if it's something non-trivial?
- Answer me, are you my master? - Uh, well, yes, I am. - Okay, then.
Is the Legend controlled by the GM?
Yes.
What does "for a certain time to achieve common goals" mean?
The time varies. One day, I might decide that the hero's goal in this world has been achieved, and he will disappear.
Can this time expire/goals not align, and what happens then?
How much control does the summoner have over the Legend?
Then you need to find a compromise... For example, Estella might want to crush the skulls of men and non-humans from time to time, and if you allow her to do that, everything will be fine, but if not, she might get disappointed and leave if you don't convince her not to. In short, control is very limited, and heroes cannot stray too far from the summoner.
What will happen if two people summon characters who hate each other/in the case of any other conflict of ideologies?
It depends on their personalities. They might even kill each other or those around them.
