He raised his second hand to Maylin's head and touched her forehead. An endless number of worlds flashed before the girl's eyes. Their birth, development, and demise. Afterward, she remembered her entire life, in the smallest details. All the horrors that happened to her, the violence and torture she had to endure. A terrible, indescribable pain pierced the girl, her legs buckled, her heart ached, and she couldn't breathe.
"Our pain is part of us. By forgetting it, we forget ourselves. We disappear. We return to the abyss. To nothingness. Remember yourself. Remember your pain, and I will help you overcome it."
The man hugged Maylin, preventing her from falling. The pain began to subside. The echoes of horror and nightmares of the past became quieter and quieter, until they turned into a harmless whisper. In the arms of the stranger, the girl felt as if she were in the arms of her own father, whom she had never had.
Maylin's mental deviation disappears.
Having learned all this, the Collapsist didn't know how to react: to scream, to cry, or simply to die. However, she now knew for sure that the latter was no longer possible for her, because her soul would simply move into another body, and the pain would not go away.
Maylin could say that the last days of her life, which began after meeting Cassmetra, were a deception, but in essence, no one lied to her then. The sorceress simply freed the Collapsist from the most painful memories and gave her the opportunity to start life with a clean slate and with new power. But at what cost?..
On the other hand, in addition to the terrible knowledge of how monstrous her own parents were, and in what conditions Maylin grew up and developed, the girl saw many other new things. And they were discouraging. All this was impossible to describe, and to some extent, the girl even wanted to be proud of the fact that only a few, like her, had access to this boundless information.
The more Maylin stayed in the arms of the stranger and comprehended everything that had entered her fragile mind, the easier it became for her. The young Structuralist experienced a real nightmare, the fantasies of which would never occur to a sane mind, but in the end, she became who she is now. A sorceress with enormous potential and power that will allow her to do a lot. For example, to make the world a better place...
For some time, the girl simply stood in the arms of the man, who calmed her with his mere presence, and cried. Tears flowed like a river, carrying away all the accumulated pain and sorrow with them. Perhaps even forever...
"Thank you," Maylin said with great difficulty, not letting go of the kind stranger.
