If it's any other weapon, you automatically hit, and then it's Dexterity versus Perception, with death occurring on a successful hit.

I'm a bit slow here. What's the point of the "Suck It Up" ability with a hit check and five-fold damage then? Or is it assumed that we're already in combat, even though no one has attacked anyone yet?
