You don't necessarily have to level up skills. If you're talking about completing the quest to neutralize the curse, it's not tied to skills.

I haven't played yet... I just launched the game, checked out Markel's build, and saw what a mess is happening in the very first battle.
The quest condition is quite vague (and the first thing that comes to mind is to neutralize the "inherent" flaws with the "right" skills).
P.S. So, the question is: "Who can help and in which direction should I go to complete the quest?" I don't like replaying, so for now, this is my "solution," but now I'm thinking that I'll "ruin" the hero right from the start of the game. I checked the map, and there are no prophet/witch huts nearby where quests are usually given/helped with (except for a message on the way to the nearest necropolis). So, I'll be a "cripple" for quite a while, and that's not cool at all.
