I didn't quite understand – what's the penalty for not completing a secondary objective? I didn't complete it, I wandered around the ship (didn't board), a vampire attacked me, and gave me the armor of a forgotten hero. Later, near the castle, a mage appeared through an open portal, but he didn't disappear permanently; it's a pretty good outcome, he gave me excellent armor.
