Outcast

I understand that most people prefer playing as elves (their archers are very strong, and dwarves are somewhat balanced around runes), but has anyone tried playing as dwarves? I played the map a long time ago, but I distinctly remember that my dwarf playthrough was ruined because, according to the dialogue (and logic, since the quests are symmetrical to the elves), I should have been given access to priests (or shamans... but I think it was priests), but instead I received a figure, and the script didn't work.
