There is a compromise, though. On the maps, you could encounter a regular Kraken of level 7, and in the sunken Temple, there could be 1 legendary Kraken boss of level 8 (it could be slightly recolored). The idea is generally good. The implementation isn't complicated. I might do it this way if the idea of a 3x3 or 4x4 creature size works well. But I suspect it won't work properly.

That's roughly the message I wanted to convey: this creature should be incredibly rare and not multiply on the map. If it only appears in the Temple in a single instance, it can be made a "mini-boss."

On the map, you could place a "castrated" version that takes up 4 squares and has reduced stats.)

P.S. Want a Kraken boss? Come up with its characteristics and abilities. But make sure it's a boss and doesn't have everything mixed together.

Don't break the whole system. Take all the abilities in the game, throw them in a blender, shake them up, but don't mix them. Then, put the result into the creature's characteristics, and the boss is ready
