In general, I wasn't expecting much when going for the save, but the opponent figured his situation was even worse and decided not to continue.

I wanted to surrender on the second week, when due to a standard mistake — forgetting that Haste isn't actually permanent with low spell power — I lost the Griffin Conservatory (didn't renew Haste on the skeleton stack in time). Plus the griffins kept getting morale, like lepers. But I saw an opening to the zone with the Grail, so I decided to keep struggling, meanwhile losing one of my two angels to medusas (also getting a ton of morale). I hit impenetrable guards. Postmortem showed that, surprisingly, there were still some chances left, but very slim ones.
I chose the wrong direction for expansion on the second week.
In short, I ruined what should have been a winnable (given proper execution of the setups) game myself: the lack of consistent practice is showing. I often zone out — waste the timer for nothing.
