Well, I understand that you are not satisfied with your own result; you want it to be perfect, but it's not possible. But this is just self-criticism, and it is not objective. If people like it, then you are doing a good job...
Regarding third-party programs, weren't there any complaints about the models? Well, about individual ones, like the female elf models, for example. Otherwise, just improve some of the textures a bit, and it will be really great. Why do you need specific software for that?
