Awakening of Evil

In the 2nd mission, I've been wandering around for the 5th month and can't join the Thieves' Guild; when I click on the Thieves' Guild building, nothing happens. 1. When I try to play against Gurk, 10 gold is deducted, and that's it. 2. When I click on the Sphinx to answer the questions, nothing happens. 3. I've gained reputation with all 3 factions; only capturing castles remains. 4. There's still an unclaimed Fairy dwelling with the Elves; I can click on it, but nothing happens. I think it's because of the game version; please advise what to do.
