I actually like Fruits Basket...

I watched it about 10 years ago, and I enjoyed it, but I still haven't gotten around to reading the manga. I remember that the main character and the guy she has a love interest in are just useless, awkward people.
I should read it.

Try Ore Monogatari, it's a very kind and positive shojo manga that successfully avoids many negative clichés. There's also an anime adaptation. There's even a live-action adaptation, but I haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

My husband is watching the anime right now. For some reason, I'm not drawn to this franchise, but maybe someday.
