- Well, I didn't know her in the way I wanted to. We only met a few times... But I have a feeling that she was an extraordinary woman... And I'm thinking – what if we got along.

Stop, many will say now. Who could possibly like this naive, selfish, and spoiled teenager?! Except for other mommy's little rebel school kids like him. Let me reassure you: I'm no longer a school kid and I probably don't fit the definition of a rebel. But here's the thing: for me, a "favorite character" is not necessarily a "role model" or a "character I would be friends with." This guy is one of those not-so-ideal, but real, "living" characters, in whom you recognize yourself somewhere, and other people somewhere else. Perhaps that's what made me reread the book about him several times, which is rare for me. Oh, I should call Jane Gall... Oops, sorry, I got carried away.

A truly well-made character, who turned out to be a pleasant surprise for me. Striking and eye-catching design, an interesting story, a bright character, the multifaceted nature of the image, growth (kek) and development throughout the series – all these aspects are harmoniously connected, creating a whole and living hero with amazing charisma. And he's just a good person too.

A prisoner is doomed to suffer, no matter where he is. But a wise and courageous man is free even behind bars.

He helped me understand that the brain is wider than the sky and deeper than the ocean, and I am only grateful for the time we spent together.

For moral strength, genuine nobility, a perceptive and rebellious mind, for the constant moral conflict both against the despicable reality and against his own nature, for being, perhaps, the first and certainly the best of a new type of people – people alien to... His ideals are dead, his actions are absurd, his life is a third-person view, he lives on the border of the future and the present, life and death, thought and action, affect and reason. A colossal figure, not belonging to the world, for he stands far above it.

I would call it something like a natural disaster. For example, an avalanche coming down from the mountains. Don't go where it passes – and you'll be safe.
But if you even for a moment decide that you are capable of competing with fate, this empty self-confidence will become your grave – the avalanche will sweep you away, leaving not even the smallest particle, and your soul will be cursed forever to rot in the hopeless darkness of despair.

Stern, but fair. Smart, cunning, and charming, but not without his quirks. Despite his outward coldness, he cares about the well-being of his wards.
