That’s what Marey thought as he stood by the window, looking at the bustling world of cheerful students enjoying their vacation and the last days of summer. Life goes on, people are busy with their own things, participate in Competitive events, go to restaurants, walk and chat, fully indulging in small worries and joys, and he continues to look at all this from the unattainable heights of his individualistic ideas, completely immersed in books and magical practice, almost never leaving his lair. The role of a passive observer is boring, moreover, objectively not good, he understood this, but continued to play it, reveling in it. Like a celestial eagle, he soars above the phenomena of life, sees it all, and a feeling of pride grows in his soul – how much higher and smarter he is in his loneliness than other students with their unrestrained emotions, naive speeches, funny friendship and rivalry! Somewhere, it seems, not far away, the sound of an explosion was heard.
“Boom. No, it’s not interesting.”
The optional classes are also uninteresting – there are no classes scheduled for the only subject that he considers worthwhile, and there is definitely nothing to do during the vacation. It seems like he wants to enjoy the last warmth of summer, but there doesn’t seem to be any reason to leave the room.
“Almost half a year has passed. But what is the result, what has changed in me?”
As if there is no result, and no changes either. Time passed quickly, and although the memories of life before entering the academy have not been erased from memory, they seem so unnecessary, dull and distant that Marey no longer understood where the boundary between his former self and his present self lies. It seemed that he had always been here, spending day after day on spellcasting and books.
Marey returned to his magical studies.
