The von Flexx family's roots stretch back to ancient times. The founder of the family was Archie von Flexx, who earned his title by fighting side by side with Aegir Walenstein, the man who would later become known as Lapis Reim, the first king of Reim. When Aegir decided to overthrow the senate and become the sole ruler of Reim, Archie showed that his loyalty extended not only to external enemies but also to internal ones. It was this kind of devotion that led to him being awarded the title, which would become a source of pride for him and many of his descendants.
The von Flexx family survived all the trials that befell them and the empire in the following years: the Archon's paranoia, Eyrin's military campaigns, the civil war in Reisen, and then Sonata, the tyranny of Thiar, his overthrow, the incompetent rule of Vagael, the war with Orion and Eos – so many events that it seemed the family name should have died out long ago, but against all odds, the dynasty continued to exist. However, ironically, what turbulent times of wars and mad rulers could not achieve, peaceful times almost succeeded in doing. Aristocratic origins completely lost their significance, while business acumen and intelligence became the means by which people achieved wealth and success. As a result, the family's already modest fortune shrank to the size of a modest mansion, which was somewhat dilapidated in places but generally looked decent.
The von Flexx family has always been characterized by a certain arrogance and haughtiness, so when they learned about the ideas of the Cult of the Flame during the fragmentation of Reim, they readily embraced them. Indeed, what else but degeneracy, debauchery, and chaos in people's minds could have led to the collapse of the greatest empire in the world? Parphinora, like the other children in the family, was raised with strict discipline. But at the same time, she was also instilled with the idea that every Flexx is born to rule, not to obey. What a surprise and shock it was for her to learn that her older brother, on whom great hopes were placed due to his outstanding intellect, went into the service of some businessman and became his accountant. The fact that serving a commoner brought him good income – more than the family's modest earnings – irritated the mother beyond measure. The father, strangely enough, took it more calmly and sometimes continued to meet with his son, while the mother disowned him. It is unknown how these family troubles affected Parphinora's inner world, but outwardly she did not show it. As the eldest daughter of the von Flexx family, she chose her future without hesitation: public service, as befits a descendant of a family that has dedicated its entire existence to serving the emperor and the empire – in that order. And since there is no more honorable public service than military service, the decision to enter the academy was not so much a decision as a natural event for her, as inevitable as birth or death.
