I unchecked the boxes, and all avatars and signatures disappeared (probably these aren't the right settings because I can't set my own avatar (see posts above), and the signature is already displayed in my profile (which is good), but it doesn't appear under my messages (which seems to be its purpose)). There's an option to contact you via Discord (I can enable screen sharing). Maybe I'm just being silly.
