The game froze completely on the very first turn after the fairies appeared.

The same thing happened – the game freezes when processing scripts. I always have only one map in the game folders. I tried playing around with the video settings in the game – the same thing happens. The version, of course, is 3.1. Difficulty – Warrior, I’ll try Veteran, as elizbar suggested.
Oh, it worked on Veteran. Take a look at the script settings for lower difficulty levels.
