= Small mods that change the visuals =

The axeman isn't involved here. There was a mod on the forum for warriors with ice axes, but I've seen them with normal ones too. The axes were like in the seventh Heroes game.

Maybe there was a bug in the mod, and the texture of the axe got lost? Then the axe will be white (sometimes red or checkered).
The mod with axes seemed to come with valkyries, bears, and some kind of pig-faced creatures; I only know of that one.
