Here's an interesting case of a game against the AI: Life versus Death.
Death has 14 Bone Dragons, and I have 11 Champions (the rest of my troops are decent, but he has fewer).
First, I matched the units level for level, i.e., Champions against Dragons, Crusaders against Vampires and poisonous creatures, etc.
So, the Bone Dragons immediately killed the Champions, and then all the other troops.
I replayed and did this: the Champions went to the enemy heroes, killed them, as well as the poisonous creatures and all the other troops, and against the Dragons, I put Crusaders and Spearmen (with Death Ward and Retribution). I won.
