I've long noticed that people often perceive an inconvenient truth as manipulation. This is because they see that the person they are talking to is leading them to conclusions they don't want to reach. I am susceptible to this myself, so I try to maintain mental hygiene and advise others to do the same.

Yes, a person's satisfaction with their material situation is not physical, but psychological. The concepts of "a decent standard of living," "living like a human being," etc., stem from this. The standard of well-being is different for different societies.

And this is universal – a normal person has a certain mental block against committing violence, so to initiate mass violence, this block must be removed. This is what ideologues and propagandists do, explaining to the outraged masses who their enemy is and what needs to be done to that enemy.

And with a certain level of psychological pressure (reinforced by material dissatisfaction), the masses "ignite," turning into a fearless crowd, eager for the enemy's blood. This is the recipe for revolution.

In fact, the Maidan protests were precisely this kind of psychological pressure, heating up the protesters for future actions, synchronizing their emotional and volitional impulses, and weakening the instinct for self-preservation.

This state is attractive in its own way; there is something primal about it, revealing instincts and freeing people from social constraints. It is also called "revolutionary romanticism."
