The one who asks for the necklace should be told to go away. The reward isn't worth an archdemon per day, peacefully growing on a demon sitting in the castle.
In my opinion, the effects of the gnome set are disabled for this mission or this half-mission, so the gnome's gear isn't as valuable. And the genie as a reward gives an army and scrolls.
