Do you use EWA? I play with it. It significantly increases the difficulty of clearing even with a Warrior. Tell me, what is the best direction to expand after the first map? Should I go to the portal near the castle or open a path to the Gnomes? Half of the neutrals were wiped out by Imps with Wave and Chain Lightning. Only the Gnomes' boots remain, guarded by an army of Gnomes (15 Arcata Dragons (no Sandro) - I don't know how to deal with them - they are the only ones left from the entire army and they finish off the remnants of my Imps (Skilled Darkness - slow, no Dispel/Summon/Ball of Lightning, but planned/Spells/Attack with Imps). The portal near the castle has a Dark Elf army with initiative, and where does it lead?)). Their second turn = a massacre of my troops. Maybe I should open a path to the Gnomes? What's there? Will the Gnomes rush into the hole immediately or after some time? I wouldn't want to encounter them and then have to rewind, at this level of development with Dark Elf warlords and Arcata dragons :) or should I gather troops and eliminate the Dark Elves guarding the portal (where does it lead)?
My development in the first mission after moving to the surface was approximately as follows: before the first caravan, the main goal is to eliminate the Wolves on the path (with Wave/Chain Lightning/Darkness on the run); after the first caravan, clear the sawmill + the Tower of Elements, and clear as much territory as possible near the castle; the second caravan - the first raid, clearing everything up to the first Gnome garrison; the third caravan - a full-scale raid, up to killing Hangwul; the fourth caravan - killing Wulfstan and ending the mission. The portal with the Dark Elves is only cleared at the very end.
My hero build: for the first half (war with the Demons) - Chaos/Spell/Artifact/Logic/Darkness - a build for Devil's Strike for quick completion; for the second half - Attack/Darkness/Light (with Wrath + Storm Wind and Protection Aura, a must-have)/Logic (Sharp Mind, a must-have)/Defense or Artifact, if it drops.
