In other words, watching someone play SOD poorly is fine, but if someone plays HotA, they should only do it at a top level! What a funny approach.

Well, if you're talking about the fact that players in CIS championships show a poor level of play in SOD, then I don't even know what to say... The average level of players in the CIS championships that I attended and watched was not poor, but rather high-class, even exceptional, in SOD (only I played poorly). Apparently, we were at different championships in different universes...
And personally, as a viewer (and that's all I'm talking about), I find it more interesting to watch SOD. I repeat, I also watch HotA to stay up to date, but between SOD and HotA in Lizard's performance, I find SOD more interesting, at least for now, especially when it comes to paying a significant amount of money for it.
And it would be even more interesting not to have a confrontation between SOD and HotA at the level of "HotA is the new garbage" and "SOD is the old garbage," but to combine them in one tournament for that very target audience of players who regularly play in the CIS, with the possibility of attracting new players and viewers. By making HotA the default, you cut off a portion of players and viewers. By making SOD the default, you cut off a portion of players and viewers. But why cut anyone off when you can bring everyone together? And this will only benefit the event.
I repeat once again that if the number of players and viewers decreases, the final price will only increase. Currently, the price is $35/day for full capacity. Would many agree to pay $50-60 if it's not full?
By the way, there is another semi-crazy solution for template number 7 in a hypothetical list of templates (which includes 3 SODs and 3 HotAs) - this is an auction for the game version, the winner of the auction chooses the version, and the loser chooses a template from the three presented templates of that version. I would be interested in watching this: obviously, true HotA players will choose HotA, true SOD players will choose SOD, and the clash of versions at the auction stage would be exciting.
