Honestly, they've become quite tiresome with this topic. But, in principle, anything can be discussed, and this one is, in general, quite interesting.
Kyivan Rus' declined as a civilization by the time of the Mongol invasion. For the same reasons that our Great Russia did at the end of the 20th century - everything became rotten and corrupted, and internal conflicts began. A historical cycle came to an end... Now, something new should replace the Great Russians, just as Muscovy once replaced Kyiv... or nothing will come. And, in principle, Ukrainians could also claim to be this "new" force. But looking at the "jumping" ones, it doesn't seem like they have any prospects.
