Achelsius never doubted that he had chosen the right path in life, and therefore his appointment to such a responsible and important position for him was not a big surprise; however, even this young priest felt a slight anxiety. In his mind, fleeting images from his past, long-forgotten life flashed: the faces of old friends and adoptive relatives. This was an unpleasant memory: although these people were sinners and criminals, he himself also took on some responsibility for their sins over the years. After all, he lived among them, and the Mentor seemed to have chosen his first test for him then - the task of saving the people closest to him. A sacred mission that he failed miserably. He did not pull them out of the darkness of the hopeless abyss, did not make them listen to him, did not insist on the right views, did not change their simple worldview.
But now he will not have another chance to fail. And let the experience of past defeats give him new spiritual strength, and the precepts of the Enlightened help him this time to resolve problems without bloodshed. That is what Achelsius firmly decided for himself.
