I don't think it makes sense to blame anyone for the unsportsmanlike behavior. Initially, both players developed a distrust of their opponent's actions. Perhaps they misunderstood something, or perhaps they were overly cautious... This created a tense atmosphere and a negative attitude. Therefore, throughout the game, each player scrutinized their opponent.
