This grouping is also the only known justification for why this particular pool was chosen (to represent different options).

This is debatable.
I myself am not thrilled with this pool, but I honestly studied the statistics of recent tournaments and the dynamics of the popularity of different templates, and before settling on this option, I personally re-checked that these 11 are the best that exists in SoD.
