Well, I don't think so. How long do these matches last, an hour and a half or two? How many goals are scored on average per game? 2-4? How many of them can be considered good, 1-2? The rest are just someone kicking the ball randomly towards the goal and accidentally scoring, while the clumsy goalkeeper jumps in the other direction. And between the goals, there's just aimless back-and-forth passing and sluggish plays. And how many actual minutes of enjoyable gameplay can you get from watching such games? 5-10? Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel very motivated to watch that.
If you're playing yourself and feel involved in the sport and enjoy a higher level of play (supposedly), or if you're yelling with friends over a beer (where the whole point isn't really the game, but the socialization), then it's somewhat understandable. But if you're watching this depressing stuff alone after work or on a weekend, and if this is your unpretentious taste, then what can you do.
That's just my impression.
