If you don't want to admit defeat, but simply want to save, or you accidentally loaded the wrong save, or you're restarting with a color change, or doing something similar, you need to click "SUGGEST TO END GAME."
Your opponent must agree to end the game. Then the game will end without changing the rating.

But if the opponent is simply asleep, not making a move for half an hour, and not showing any other signs of life, is it impossible to leave now?

And in general, it often happens like this: a player makes a move and leaves (without leaving the game), suggesting that the opponent make a move and save. So this innovation is not very well thought out.

If it was introduced because of complaints about players who leave when losing without admitting defeat, I suspect that there will now be many more complaints about those who "farm" a victory by making a move and then going for a walk for an hour or two. :D :D :D
