I also started on Normal, but then, when I realized that Normal gradually leads to the third difficulty level, I decided to try Hard. I figured I had nothing to lose anyway. At least I'd have a non-zero chance.
The only problem is that normal people usually get satisfaction from certain achievements and progress; their mood on a scale from -100 to +100 remains positive or moves forward. But for me to feel even neutral, I have to keep raising the bar higher and higher. It's incredibly frustrating that someone else in a similar situation, putting in the same effort, is happy with the result and feels good, while I don't feel anything and, in general, life still sucks. And the only motivation to continue doing what I'm doing is the motivation that says: "it will only get worse if you stop." And that's a terrible motivation. A lot of effort just to prevent the bathroom filled with crap from turning into a pool.
