Why does everyone hate Ikigai so much?

They're boring luddites who don't give the character much personality and have already managed to ruin a pretty decent faction. The character from Ikigai doesn't even have the opportunity for character development, as they are completely brainwashed. And this brainwashing cannot be reversed, as far as I can tell. And their bonuses are quite overpowered.
