Okay, I read the description of your mages, Quote: "Free mages who have chosen the path of Ilat become storm wizards: powerful mages who have dedicated their lives to serving the ideals of the Dragon of Air." In that case, a blue gem would be suitable, but the clothing color shouldn't be red. (There are already a lot of red colors in the game - humans, dwarves, and demons with their affinity for fire and corresponding style, oh yes, and the Dungeon's alternate colors are also partly red).
Added 2 minutes later I repeat, I really like the red color scheme, but I have expressed my opinion regarding the choice of color.
Well, there's no fire here, but the fire mages at the academy wear blue simply because they are not religious. My sorcerers are closer to archmages than to inquisitors, and there is also Ilat's cloak in the sixth game, and it is red (although this is strange).
