Well, in reality, the progression in the expansions for Revan was only more or less present in Tiara and Hieroglyph. In the regular ones, it was extremely uneven – some could double their stats, some could get a skill point and +5 to a couple of characteristics, and some would just stick their hand out the window. And the equipment had a much greater impact on the characters' strength. Not to mention that the usefulness of origins/factions/styles varies greatly, and a new "first-level" character can turn out to be stronger than an old "tenth-level" character. By the way, a "normal" NewGame+ was also sometimes available for Revan, through certain perks. However, given the alternative options, it rarely made sense to take them, except for role-playing purposes. Unless, of course, it was just for the sake of it, to start as a Vistarian with Vistarian stats and die, and then create a Naliarian terminator and drive out the invaders from their native lands.
