Is the number of players more important than their quality?
(This is a metaphor, of course; by quality, I mean things like honesty.)

It's one thing when there are many players and not everyone who wants to can sign up for a tournament, and it's another thing when they literally scrape together participants for the tournament. As they say, "beggars can't be choosers"!
