I've always admired the Scorpions tournament for its strict adherence to deadlines and the lack of exceptions for anyone. However, with the change of host, the situation has changed... Chemist_HP, who clearly wasn't prioritizing the games, not only wasn't disqualified but also made it to the playoffs! Here's a bit of a timeline:
April 24, 2018 Players who have played only one game and are not providing updates on their progress – TT_HNK, Montt, bubuch, zuro007, Loinz, MinasMorgul, Dorsaj, HellLighT, Nintendo, Zodmund, Chemist_HP, Georg_, CanaBeasT, Los, St_Klaus – must submit their reports by the end of the weekend, or they will also be disqualified.
Initially, everything was clear: games were being tracked, players were being monitored, and Chemist managed to submit his report before the deadline.
May 22, 2018 Some preliminary information before tomorrow's deadline – May 23. ... Group 13 – a delay due to the lack of progress from Chemist_HP; we'll take note of this. ... The highlighted players (those identified as potential candidates) will be disqualified if they don't have results by the day after tomorrow.
The deadline arrives, but there are no reports, and yet there's no reaction from the host, who doesn't keep his word.
May 25, 2018 Interim results after the deadline of May 23. ... Warnings: - to the entire group 5, except for saneok, - to player Chemist_HP from group 13 – only two games played. Organizational conclusions will be drawn by the end of the week.
Rebell, who has always been known for his principled and meticulous approach, doesn't disqualify Chemist (despite his earlier statements), even though there were no exceptions for anyone in the tournament before. Here's a little more of the timeline: I always contacted the players in the group immediately, and here, my message to Chemist about scheduling a game was sent on April 4, and his response came on May 18... Seeing such a mess in the tournament and having played only 4 of the required games by the deadline, I decided to wait and see what would happen. Chemist, on Saturday, May 26, posts in the forum in the "let's schedule games" thread, expressing his desire to play a season! In other words, he doesn't even consider that the tournament is ongoing and that he needs to play.
Moving on, the end of the week, as announced by the host, arrives, and there are still no reports from Chemist – and no organizational conclusions (or they exist, but they can't be made public). By the way, Chemist's report for the third game appeared only on May 31, and he didn't even confirm the report for the fourth game (which was unfinished and postponed by Dima Surmai right before the draw). It's very sad to see this. Rebellius, who has always been against favoritism and in favor of rules that apply equally to everyone, has disappointed. I don't want to think that Dima is also involved, but his report on the unfinished game makes me think that he might be... Sorry for the long post, but I felt that people should know about this. I have no desire to participate in future tournaments where such a farce is possible.
