Heroes V - Remake "File restructuring, 'junk' cleanup, and game optimization"

I wanted to ask them for permission to use hero icons from parts 6 and 7 for a free mod for Heroes 5. And they replied that using their content in mods is generally prohibited because it violates the license. Then I started asking them detailed questions about specific points. And in the end, I clarified their attitude towards mods for Heroes 5 in general, since there are a huge number of them, to which they replied that modifications violate clause 3.1 by their very existence.

And I'm a little confused after all this. I look at my project and wonder if it's worth continuing under these circumstances?!
