Overall, I'm starting to think that the difficulty of Xiedu is greatly exaggerated.

The context is important here – when Xiedu was created, when Metataxер was, and when all sorts of Chinese maps that have been discussed were made. Naturally, it's no longer the most difficult one.
And then there's the question of whether difficulty is a goal in itself.
