Magic is definitely used in "robots." So, it's better to use magic to stop the intrusion, if we're talking about it.
I see it this way: the engine definitely has some kind of magical component, providing a mechanism with a continuous energy supply, and everything else is pure mechanics, limited only by the designer's imagination. Accordingly, you can simply integrate a thermal sensor into the structure to automate the trap, so that it triggers on an intruder but allows for maintenance using tools, for example. Or you can just wave away the complications, because the doll has gained consciousness and controls its body completely independently, which means it won't have any trouble deceiving such a simple check.
You could just make a completely different move. It's a doll, it doesn't have anything there, haha.
You could, but that's not interesting. I initially had the idea to include some dark element in the quest that would clearly explain this point, but I decided not to add even more chaos. So, I'll leave this question as a Schrödinger's cat for now.
