I got two native shrines, a necklace of speed as starting art, and a university near the town where I learned logistics, attack, and defense. Also lucky with the water elementals—they gave me a kettle, wings, and boots, and I upgraded Town Portal quickly. However, Dimension Door took a long time to upgrade; I got all the elementals, blast, and something else, but neither flight nor Dimension Door. Nevertheless, with Town Portal and wings, it was already possible to put up some of a fight.
