I think the starter is indeed the face of the player, and replacing him is illogical (after all, Galtran is NOBODY!). Therefore, it will be normal to catch Goshann in the tavern rather than taking him as a starter, and the character really won't have the opportunity to play Jebus Cross anyway... so this works.
