Could you create a grid that includes templates for each game? ))) Moreover, this grid doesn't need to be published in advance; it could be created just before the start of the entire tournament or before each round. The strategy would then involve choosing the right faction against each player based on the randomly selected templates.
In my humble opinion, this approach would result in a significant number of mirror matches. Because, knowing the template, players will try to choose a faction that complements the template. And in, say, Heroes of Might and Magic III, it's easier to achieve victory with Dungeon or Stronghold than with, for example, Academy or Fortress. If this doesn't bother people, then they can play. But in my opinion, the Dexterwar format is better; in it, you'll definitely play on your template and with your faction, and the probability of a mirror match is lower.
