With each passing minute, the sounds of the snake people grew fainter and fainter. The ambush set up by the "Enclave" supporters proved to be not as effective as they had hoped. They failed to eliminate the entire squad, and the documents detailing the location of their base were on their way to where they needed to be. Nevertheless, Alaria wasn't feeling any better about it. Although she didn't know Altina very well, the Remian made a pleasant impression on her. And Gekkon was probably a decent person too... a *snake* person. But the Tanarian failed to save any of them. And if it were a different situation, she might have risked her life, but now the question was entirely different. The documents had to get into the hands of the police to prevent even more deaths. And the death of two people, however worthy they may have been, was an acceptable price.
