I believe it's to reduce memory consumption.
Exactly - The work on NCF I am doing is not about creating new content but about creating a unified deployment tool. All NCF creatures will go through a sanitation process where they are tested for issues and bugs as well.
Most of the work was actually done last year, but I stopped working on it for some time. There are 2 things left to do:
- reduce memory requirements by adding LOD files
- test all creatures in a real game using maps of different sizes - Actually, if anyone is willing to help with the testing part, please let me know.
I emphasize the LOD files because on very large maps, the game becomes unstable with the NCF and just crashes after just a few days of play.
