This is, of course, an isolated case; no one goes into THIS without protection (well, almost), but it's far from the only instance of clinical idiocy. For example, at one of our Tournaments, a guy had his ear cut off with a sword because he was too lazy to fasten his helmet, and it flew off when he was grappled and a downward strike followed. He narrowly avoided a blow to the head; if his opponent had been a less skilled fighter who hadn't managed to deflect the blow sideways, his skull would have been split open.
