Yes, it's possible to bypass it, and as far as I can tell, it's the only way to get out of that location, because the teleporters there create a loop (a one-way teleporter from this location leads to the mountain with the cyclops, from there a two-way teleporter leads to the location where the dwarf treasure is, and from there a one-way teleporter leads back to this location). Although, it's possible that I'm just not paying enough attention.
