There used to be a checkbox in the options - fixed battlefield.

I remember watching Tais's first stream of Heroes of Might and Magic, and he accidentally enabled this option. Half the chat was yelling at him to turn on normal battlefields, but he, of course, wasn't reading. Maybe that's why they removed it, because many people would enable this checkbox without thinking and then complain.

By the way, I tried playing a few chapters of the campaign with the Japanese voice acting and realized that it's not for me. Although the original might better convey the characters, when the characters whine, lisp, and squeak, it's sometimes difficult to understand what they wanted to say from the written text. After that, I played ranked matches in English, heard Dashka, and realized that Locken was right. I'll switch back to Japanese, because if I play like that for too long, "wiz a bang and a boom" might happen not only on the game board.
