CIS-2018 in Chisinau.

I'm fed up with waiting, so I decided to jump into the fray and organize a CIS event. Options in Kaliningrad are turning out to be quite tough. After discussing it with Reddi, we've decided to leave Kaliningrad for the future.

Without further ado, let's get to business.

CIS 3000 2018 in Chisinau

I'll say right away: we have very little time to make a decision. We currently have an agreement with the venue. There is one week to say "yes" or "no." By the morning of March 5, we must give our positive response. The sooner, the better.

Dates: April 28 – May 6 (8 days)
Resort: Nick House mini-hotel. Vadul lui Vodă village (25 km from Chisinau)

Traditionally, the Dendroids Fund is participating in the tournament organization financially (the champion was unlucky enough to live in such a hole. Strong players from Anadyr, Magadan, Birobidzhan and the Far North regions will be subjected to heavy drinking).

Venue Description

The venue is designed for 40-50 people, fully fenced; accommodation is compact but not cramped. In case there are more of us, there are options for staying in neighboring hotels/resorts. So don't be stupid—slowpokes will end up living in the outskirts.

Taxi from the airport to the venue – 150-200 lei (multiply by three to get rubles), from the city – 120-150 lei. Buses and shuttles run to the city – 8-10 lei. There is a shop 1.5 km from the venue. Smaller kiosks are even closer. Exchange office, ATM – 1.5 km from the venue.

The venue is given to us entirely with all its bells and whistles:

• Fully equipped conference hall
• Additional hall (coaching) for poker and other activities
• Outdoor pool
• Sauna
• Football/volleyball court with artificial turf
• BBQ area
• Billiards
• Table tennis
• Private parking for 3-4 cars.
• Two internet lines (one at the venue is 4G from a mobile operator, the second is gigabit fiber optics). They promise unlimited access for us. To be honest, I haven't had the time or opportunity to test the internet in full. But in any case, I will prepare backup channels.

All premises are available 24/7.

Room Inventory

Main Building:

• 4 double rooms with separate beds
• 2 triple rooms with separate beds
• 1 quadruple room with separate beds
• 2 triple rooms with a double and a single bed
• 1 large room with a double bed, a single bed, a folding sofa, and a balcony-terrace

Building B:

• One triple room with separate beds
• Two double rooms with a double bed
• One triple room with double and single beds

Building C:

• Two-room house with a balcony and terrace with a BBQ, each room with a double bed.

Each room has its own bathroom with a shower, TV, wardrobe, and hair dryer. Air conditioners are in the rooms where it could potentially be hot (no extreme heat is expected for the first May holidays, but +20-25 is easily possible).

Meals

Full three meals a day will be organized for everyone (hay for vegans too, yes), plus two coffee breaks with fruit during the day (I don't know why this is necessary, but it was offered as a bonus – turbo call). It is possible to order dishes outside of collective catering – any whim for your lei.

Budget

Everything listed above is available to us for 170 euros (~11800 rubles) per person for the entire period. This includes accommodation, three meals a day with breaks, 24-hour use of all venue facilities, and free consumption of your own alcohol. There is no daily rate; this is specifically a package for the full term from 28.04 to 06.05. That is, if someone arrives on the 29th and leaves on the 5th, the price remains the same. These are conditions achieved through difficult negotiations.

Additional Expenses

A contribution to the prize pool is mandatory: 1500 rubles for a tournament participant, 500 rubles for a spectator. Traditionally, we do not take contributions from girls and children. Animals pay in full :)

The opening banquet has become a kind of tradition. Its cost is not yet finalized because the menu needs to be developed. However, a preliminary agreement has been reached that its cost will not exceed 1000 rubles (excluding alcohol: bring your own booze). The banquet will feature national Moldovan cuisine with small touches of classic European.

Total: total cost for a tournament participant including contribution and banquet – 14300 rubles, for a spectator – 13300 rubles. Prices may fluctuate depending on exchange rates (plus or minus three thousand :) ). Prepayment is not mandatory but welcome. When booking a specific room, priority is given to those who have made a prepayment (3000 rubles is enough to demonstrate intentions).

Additional Entertainment

There are several options:

• Excursion to the Cricova winery with a visit to the underground city and tasting.
• Fishing on the Dniester
• Beach (1km from the venue)
• The venue owner can organize homemade wine for us
• The venue chefs can grill shashliks for us for a symbolic fee (we can do it ourselves if anyone wants to put in the effort)
• There is a full-size football field in the village with a good lawn
• Independent trip to Chisinau (legal casinos, again)

Preliminary Schedule

• 28 (Sat) – arrival
• 29 (Sun) – morning/day remaining arrivals, evening – opening banquet
• 30 (Mon) – first round
• 1 (Tue) – second round, poker tournament (for once, practically legal)
• 2 (Wed) – day of rest, excursion. Tournament laggards continue to stall. Evening shashliks.
• 3 (Thu) – third round
• 4 (Fri) – fourth round
• 5 (Sat) – match for third place or fifth round if there are more than 16 participants, award ceremony, Dendroids party.
• 6 (Sun) – departure

Visas, Passports, Requirements, Restrictions

No visa is required to enter Moldova for Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, or people from the EU. A foreign passport with at least two clean sheets (a sheet is a page on both sides) is required. The passport must be valid until at least August 6 (three months after the departure date). Nothing else is needed.

European guys, this is your first visa-free entry to a CIS event – don't miss the chance. Wizzair flies to Chisinau. An option for Poles – to Berlin, and from there a direct Wizzair flight for pennies. There are other options – figure it out yourselves.

Plane tickets from Moscow are approximately 11-12k round trip.
There is a train from Moscow, but it takes quite long – 32 hours. It costs about 4000 rubles one way.
Plane tickets from St. Petersburg are approximately 14-16k round trip. From Kyiv by plane, approximately 9200 rubles round trip.
There is a train from Minsk; it takes a day and costs 3500 rubles one way. By plane from Minsk, about 20k. You can go to Odessa for 13k and then by bus – also an option. Or again, to Odessa with a short transfer via Kyiv for 9800 rubles and then a bus to Chisinau (the bus costs about 600 rubles one way and takes 5-6 hours).
If anyone wants to go from Odessa – let me know, there are various options, very inexpensive.

Siberia, Ekb – everything via Moscow. Around 20-23k. There are strange options via Istanbul, but you have to time those right.

There is little time left to get tickets for convenient flights at a reasonable price.
