Technical issues with Heroes III.

Hello! In "Heroes III: In the Wake of Gods", save games stop loading. I noticed that saves stop working when I explore more than 25% of the map. I'm playing on XL maps! When I try to load a save game, the game crashes and doesn't even display an error message. Please help, it's a good game, but this bug is a problem.
