The point is that we can’t *order* the AI to do or not do something, and if Kira attacks Das before he’s ready, he’ll have to die. In my playthrough, Das also managed to escape, and I bought him in Smokownia, but, guided by my understanding of “fair play” (I assumed that the author didn’t want the player to use Das), I didn’t use him as a warrior hero; Mutare was my warrior throughout the game. The only exception was one instance: I killed the enhanced snakes on the road at the very beginning of the journey with Das, as I didn’t want to suffer any losses or wait to hire additional troops.
